Nixu Software has made a public release of Nixu Secure Name Server (SNS) version 1.5. The product
now comes with a built-in SQLite database that enables effortless handling of thousands of
authoritative zone files. To accommodate the increased number of zones, version 1.5 also comes
with new data management tools creating an enhanced user experience.
Said Juha Holkkola, Managing Director of Nixu Software: "Traditionally, only larger enterprises
and service providers have been able to afford the benefits of DNS servers and solutions with a
built-in SQL engine. We intend to change that. Nixu SNS 1.5 offers the benefits of a built-in
SQL engine at the fraction of the cost compared to traditional products in our space."
Nixu Secure Name Server (SNS) is a DNS software appliance that automates manual routines associated
with maintaining a DNS server and provides a web-based user-interface for server management.
Targeted at organizations running BIND or Microsoft's DNS products in their networks, Nixu SNS
provides customers with higher level of DNS security while slashing the overhead costs associated
with running a DNS server. Nixu SNS can be operated as an authoritative DNS server, a caching DNS
server, or both.
Being a software appliance, Nixu SNS is sold as annual subscriptions at $495 (US) per server per
year including maintenance and support. By automating the tedious installation and maintenance
routines associated with running DNS servers, it offers lower TCO than traditional do-it-yourself
DNS servers based on open source software.
