Launching Nixu DHCP Server: The Network Dynamizer
Dynamic allocation of IP addresses is one of the key services in any network. While most communications
devices rely heavily on Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) in obtaining an IP as well as other
network parameters, there have not been affordable solutions that would be easy to use and up to par
with today's security requirements.
The new Nixu DHCP Server is a DHCP software appliance that simplifies tedious routines associated
with running and configuring a DHCP server. Targeted at organizations running DHCPD or Microsoft's
AD products in their networks, Nixu DHCP Server simplifies daily configuration tasks while providing
an enhanced level of security. Nixu DHCP Server can be operated as a standalone DHCP server or in
server pairs providing for DHCP failover.
Said Juha Holkkola, Managing Director of Nixu Software: "Unlike traditional hardware-based computing
appliances that need a specific piece of hardware to run on, our software appliances set the new
standard for platform freedom. By coupling the new Nixu DHCP Server with our existing software
appliances, our customers can quickly and flexibly deploy D-services (DNS, DHCP) on virtual
infrastructure, traditional x86-based servers, or their combination."
Compared with traditional DHCP servers, Nixu DHCP Server's software appliance design makes it
easy to deploy. Distributed as ISO image that auto-installs the entire software stack from
hardened Linux OS to application layer in minutes, Nixu DHCP Server can be run on any x86-based
server or virtual machine. With its intuitive web-based user-interface designed for DHCP and
system configuration, coupled with automated configuration validation and maintenance processes,
Nixu DHCP Server will realize significant savings in terms of system management overheads.
Nixu DHCP Server is available immediately at www.nixusoftware.com.
The solution is distributed both as a software appliance, which is an ISO image that auto-installs the entire
software stack from a hardened Linux O/S to the application layer at the system boot. The software appliance
supports all the same x86 hardware platforms as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, and VMwareŽ Virtual Infrastructure.
The pricing of Nixu DHCP Server starts from $495 (US) per server per year including maintenance and support.
