New Nixu DHCP Server 1.1: Introducing Intelligent DHCP Failover
Dynamic allocation of IP addresses is one of the most critical network services for a growing
number of organizations. Without an always-on DHCP service (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol),
WLAN-enabled laptops, VoIP clients, surveillance cameras and other devices essential to operations
will not be able to perform as intended. This translates to immediate productivity losses across the board.
To ensure always-on DHCP service, the new Nixu DHCP Server 1.1 introduces an intelligent DHCP
failover mechanism that supports automated replication of DHCP configurations from the failover
primary to the failover secondary. Thanks to its built-in intelligence, organizations will be
able to manage all DHCP configurations of an always-on Nixu DHCP Server pair from a single web-based user-interface.
"The new Nixu DHCP Server 1.1 allows the implementation of always-on DHCP services on existing
virtualization infrastructure" stated Juha Holkkola, Managing Director of Nixu Software. "For
organizations that have already made an investment in virtualization technologies, there is no
better way to show ROI than consolidating existing services on virtualization platforms. With
Nixu DHCP Server and other Nixu Products, organizations can do just that without compromising
the availability of their mission critical network services."
Nixu DHCP Server is a virtualization-ready DHCP software appliance that simplifies manual
routines associated with running and managing a DHCP server. Targeted at replacing plain
DHCPD and Microsoft's AD servers used to provide DHCP service, Nixu DHCP Server simplifies
day-to-day management routines while providing a higher level of security and availability.
Nixu DHCP Server can be operated as a standalone DHCP server or in failover server pairs
providing for always-on DHCP.
Distributed as a software appliance that auto-installs the entire software stack from a
hardened Linux O/S to the application layer at the system boot, Nixu DHCP Server supports
all the same x86 hardware platforms as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 as well as virtualization
platforms that emulate x86-based computing environments such as VMware Virtual Infrastructure.
The pricing of Nixu DHCP Server starts from $495 (US) per server per year including maintenance and support.
Nixu DHCP Server 1.1 is available immediately at www.nixusoftware.com.
