New Nixu SNS 1.1 Validates DNS Entries
Nixu Software has made a public release of Nixu Secure Name Server (SNS) version 1.1. The
latest version of Nixu SNS comes with an enhanced WebUI that can now be used to edit also master DNS zone files.
In order to prevent faulty DNS configurations that lead to network downtime and compromise
DNS security, the web-based editor comes with automated validation of DNS data entries. Nixu SNS is targeted at
organizations running plain BIND on their public DNS servers.
Said Juha Holkkola, Managing Director of Nixu Software: "Recent studies point out
that a high percentage of public DNS servers are compromised by security problems. As the easiest way to secure a
DNS server is to make sure that the servers are updated regularly and configured correctly, we have introduced
tools that automate the related routines."
Nixu Secure Name Server (SNS) is a new breed of DNS software appliances based on Nixu
Software's patent-pending method for securing DNS servers. It is the first DNS server in the world to incorporate
Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) on hardened Linux OS (CentOS), protecting organizations from common security
threats such as Denial of Service attacks, port scans, and DNS cache poisoning attempts.
Being a software appliance, Nixu SNS is sold as annual subscriptions priced at $495 / server
/ year (US) including maintenance and support. By automating the tedious installation and maintenance routines
associated with running DNS servers, it offers lower TCO than traditional do-it-yourself DNS servers based on open
source software.
