Free DNS Checking Tool Available: www.howismydns.com Goes Online
Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical global infrastructure used in Internet and in private
IP-based networks to translate domain names (e.g. nixusoftware.com) to IP addresses (e.g. 80.75.107.68)
and vice versa. Although DNS is one of the most critical Internet services, a high percentage of domains
continue to have configuration errors translating to compromised security and unreliable name-to-IP
resolution. This may result in inability to route emails and lost connections to websites.
To help network professionals in ensuring the health of their public DNS service, Nixu Software has
launched a new online service at howismydns.com.
The service includes a collection of tools designed to validate the configurations of public DNS servers.
Unlike many existing online services, howismydns.com
is provided free of charge and does not require users to register.
"Having enjoyed a fair amount of success over the recent years, we wanted to give something back to the community"
stated Juha Holkkola, Managing Director of Nixu Software. "Sharing our DNS expertise by introducing a service like
howismydns.com is our way of saying thanks".
