Company History
Our company has achieved a lot since its birth in 1988. Here, we have captured some of the key milestones in Nixu's development.
| 1988 | Pekka Nikander establishes Nixu. The name is derived from his family name, the name of the then popular operating system "Unix" and the nickname of the lab where Nikander studied at while at Helsinki University of Technology "Niksula". | |
| 1989 | Nixu holds one of the first virus seminars in Finland. | |
| 1994 | Nixu delivers a full-blown commercial ISP platform to Telecom Finland (today's TeliaSonera). This marked the birth of Nixu NameSurfer functionality. Nixu continues to develop several generations of the Telcom Finalnd (today's TeliaSonera) platform and administer their DNS services until 1998. | |
| 1996 | Nixu releases the first version of Nixu NameSurfer for DNS administration. | |
| 1998 | Nixu wins a contract to implement and operate the super-node, international gateway and management systems of the national Internet for KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology) in Saudi Arabia. | |
| 2006 | Nixu NameSurfer products and business spin-off is acquired by Nixu Software Ltd. The newly founded Nixu Software celebrates the 10-year anniversary of Nixu NameSurfer and publicly releases its first DNS server, Nixu Secure Name Server (SNS). | |
| 2007 | Nixu releases virtualization-ready Nixu NameSurfer Suite 5.6 Series, announces support for VMWare Virtualization platforms, introduces DNSSEC support in its products and releases Nixu DHCP server. | |
| 2008 | Nixu releases NameSurfer Suite 6.1.1. which can be fully intergrated with Secure64 DNS. Fischer Network and Nixu Software enter a partnership on DNS and IPAM. | |
| 2009 | Nixu releases NameSurfer Suite 6.5 series with DNSSEC Key Generation capabilities and possibility to be run in IPAM only mode for Microsoft AD networks. | |
| 2010 | Nixu releases Nixu Network Equipment Extractor (NEE) and NameSurfer Suite 6.8 series, an agentless IPAM integration tool with Microsoft AD. | |
